What I use
Hardware, editor config, languages, cloud stack, and the tools I reach for every day. Updated June 2026.
Hardware
- MacBook Pro 14" M3 ProPrimary machine. The battery life alone is worth it.
- LG 27UK850-W 27" 4K MonitorUSB-C single-cable setup — clean desk.
- Keychron K2 v2Brown switches. Quiet enough for meetings, tactile enough to feel good.
- Logitech MX Master 3Horizontal scroll wheel earns its keep in VS Code and spreadsheets.
- Sony WH-1000XM5ANC headphones for deep work. Non-negotiable in open offices.
Editor & Terminal
- VS CodePrimary editor. Catppuccin Mocha theme, Fira Code with ligatures.
- Claude CodeAI-assisted development — the one I actually use every day.
- iTerm2 + ZshStarship prompt, zsh-autosuggestions, and fast-syntax-highlighting.
- tmuxSession management. I have a session per project and never close terminals.
- Vim keybindings everywhereVS Code Vim extension. The muscle memory is too deep to undo.
Languages & Runtimes
- TypeScript / Node.jsDefault for backend services, APIs, and tooling.
- GoWhen I need performance, small binaries, or a 10-year stability guarantee.
- PythonData pipelines, ML experimentation, and one-off scripting.
- SQLMore SQL than I expected. D1/SQLite in production; PostgreSQL for heavier workloads.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Cloudflare (Workers, Pages, D1, R2)Edge-first. This site runs entirely on Cloudflare.
- AWSECS, Lambda, S3, RDS — for work at Walmart scale.
- Docker + KubernetesContainer orchestration for anything that needs to run at scale.
- TerraformInfrastructure as code. Drift detection alone is worth the learning curve.
AI & LLM Stack
- Claude (Anthropic)Primary LLM. Sonnet for everyday tasks, Opus for deep reasoning.
- LangChainAgent orchestration and chain composition. Useful when you need structure.
- Cloudflare Workers AIFor edge inference — fast, cheap, zero cold starts.
- Vectorize / pgvectorRAG pipelines. Cloudflare Vectorize on the edge, pgvector for Postgres-native.
- ai-chat-toolkit (mine)My own open-source toolkit — embeddable AI chat widget + server.
Databases
- PostgreSQLGo-to for anything needing ACID guarantees, full-text search, or JSON columns.
- D1 / SQLiteServerless edge workloads. Surprisingly capable for read-heavy apps.
- RedisCaching, rate limiting, pub/sub, and session storage.
- Apache SparkLarge-scale data processing and batch ETL at Walmart.
Apps & Productivity
- RaycastReplaced Spotlight. Extensions for GitHub, Jira, clipboard history — indispensable.
- NotionPersonal knowledge base, meeting notes, and project planning.
- FigmaWireframes and quick UI sketches before touching code.
- TablePlusGUI for PostgreSQL/SQLite when I want to browse data without a query.
- Arc BrowserSpaces per project, sidebar for tabs. Took two weeks to get used to; won't go back.
